Val-d’Isère, the unmissable February halt, by Zadig & Voltaire.

Unmissable winter halt in the middle of the Vanoise, the village-station is also famous for its hot-spots.

A dream village on the mountain. Baroque church, stone chalet, delicious stalls: an ermine box for a winter break that imposes itself like a deep breath. At 1850 meters of heights, Val-d’Isère cultivates its reputation of fantastic refuge, far from the crowd. Brand new in this Savoyard oasis, the La Mourra hotel complex – a hamlet near the slopes that plays the Russian doll in the heart of the mythic village… Few chalet with generous proportions and genuine luxury: here, you don’t joke with comfort. From this tradi-chic base camp, you can shine in the whole valley, tear down the slopes and fall for all curiosities that offers the site from the Vanoise National Park recovered by a white coat during the winter, a high cultural and gustative place of the region. Unmissable: the genuine altitude spots that are the La Fruitière restaurant that once was a dairy cooperative and hasn’t change a lot, where you can eat soups and familial recipes or the l’Ouillette bar. Few steps from here (10kms and 3000 meters of heights) at Tignes and the mountain table from the Panoramic: beyond what says its name, the view is to die for in a cosy-lodge atmosphere. The gastronomic or typical cook lovers will go to the Edmond Atelier, double stared in the Michelin guide. The La Luge, La Ski Gallery or Fondue Factory Savoyard restaurants where vintage skis go alongside melted cheese cascades, hot chocolate and sandwich. In the kingdom of the beautiful, the Barme de l’Ours spa is like an ultra-modern roman thermal bath, both mineral and wooded, allows a repair parenthesis to the skiers. Ultimate gustative halt: the Epicerie des Neiges, famous for its blueberry jams, its beaufort or its wine selection but also for its environment, half Amélie Poulain, half Charlie and the chocolate factory… At Val d’Isère, everything is to admire with your eyes or mouth.
