Amazing Copenhagen

Audacious yet friendly, Copenhagen is not a city of paradoxes – its people are warm. Majestic but not inaccessible, the city exudes a powerful, Viking spirit together with a cozy, “homemade” vibe. The Danish capital is a city you’ll want to linger in.

Opaline, forget-me-not and lavender: if the city had a color, it would be a palette of pastel blues. Along its wide avenues and fabulous buildings, both old and new, Copenhagen appears before visitors in shades of azure, ocean and slate blue. Its coastal location is one obvious reason, as is its northerly position. Whether November or May, the light is exceptional. It’s hard to resist the city’s array of attractions: from design and architecture to gastronomy and culture, every aspect is celebrated in all its diversity, which is sure to impress. Here, excellence takes precedence. Copenhagen is the proud home of NOMA, one of the world’s top three restaurants and just one of its many sources of envy. The most refined palettes can also try out Musling or the Fiskebaren, where seafood – especially the famous oysters – is king. Copenhagen also offers a host of museums, each very different from the next: the Glyptotek features the works of both Gauguin and Man Ray; the David Collection is a shrine to Islamic art, splendors of 18th century Europe and late-19th to mid-20th century Danish art; the Designmuseum is a temple of style that provides an exclusive overview of national and international design. Just next door, take a fabric- themed interlude at Zadig & Voltaire. Get your fill of sweet and savory treats with a heavenly brunch served at Wulff & Konstali or Mad & Kaffe.

From the Amalienborg Palace to the Royal Library – the majestically modern “Black Diamond”– architecture in Copenhagen is all about contrast, boldness and elegance. These traits can all be found – naturally – at the fabulous 8Tallet residential complex (which has won several prizes since it was built in 2010) and the Blu Royal Hotel, designed by Arne Jacobsen. Though less eye- catching, the Axel Guldsmeden Hotel – a perfect balance of blonde wood and clean design – is an ideal place to rest weary legs. A city filled with treasures to behold, Copenhagen is nothing short of a northern star that begs to be discovered (or rediscovered !)
